Moortown Cottage

Description

A very warm welcome awaits you at Alan & Denise’s thatched cottage which nestles at the foot of the West Wight Downs that form part of the back bone of the Isle of Wight.

Moortown Cottage is set in the outskirts of the quiet pleasant village of Brighstone. The village lies to the west of the Isle of Wight close to the sea and the Downs, with country lanes all around. The cottage is thatched stone, about 300 years old and has a history as a smuggler’s store from the days when ship wrecking was the main source of income.

At Moortown Cottage the B & B accommodation (known as Little Moortown) is a separate stone cottage next to the main house. The present owners are in possession of a Title Deed dated 1702 showing that this separate stone cottage was then known as Little Moortown and was owned by a William Redstone. William’s Will shows that his estate was worth £300 at the time of his death which means that he was a very wealthy individual.

Little Moortown comprises one double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet.  The accommodation also includes a private sitting room with a fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities including fresh milk and squash.

All of the B & B accommodation is on the ground floor with its own front door so is easily accessible. Central heating is included and thus our B & B can be used at any time of the year.
Car parking is on the drive in front of your accommodation.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

full English or continental Breakfast is served in the main house. Any special needs can be catered for, but advance warning of this would be appreciated.
